it's not the best thing to just end it yourself because a relationship needs at least 2 people. The decision must be mutual. Try talking with your friend about your problems with him/her. If he can change the things you don't like about him, then maybe your friendship can still work. At least you tried. But if he doesn't want to change and you don't want to adapt with his attitude, then you should end your friendship, face to face, mutual decision so that there will be a closure. Like I said, at least you tried.
