Is there anything I can do to set myself up for a career in the USMC?

I'm currently a Freshman in High School and I was just curious if there's anything besides DEP that I can do to help me get into the Marines and to help me succeed within the military community. And also would it be appropriate to talk to a recruiter any time soon seeing as I am a freshman and still have quite a bit of time until I can even enlist?
